Clunk when in reverse
Can someone help me diagnose my problem? There is a two clunks when you go from park to reverse and give it gas. Kinda of like a popping sound. If you slowly ease into the gas it usually doesn't do it. But if you give it some gas and quickly back up it makes two loud clunk noises. It kind of sounds like it's coming from the transfer case but I'm not sure. I changed the two rear U-joints and recently took the cover off the rear diff because the limited slip was chattering. The mechanic said everything in the diff looked fine. Is there a U-joint by the transfer case I need to change or could it just be my brakes are binding and when I go in reverse they slam back? Hopefully my T-case isn't going out.
Thanks in advance,
Dennis H.

Could be a shot in the dark but try lubing the spines on your driveshaft. I had a similar problem on my Ranger a while back and it solved it. From what I understand Ford makes a particular lube for this such application.
I have a similar problem with my '00 f150. Going from park to reverse or to drive, I hear a pop, then a rapid squeak, probably something with a small radius, ujoints perhaps!!! This happens ~90% of the time. Has anyone had this problem before??? Any solutions? Suggestions? Thanks for the info...
