1986 f150 302 v8 duel tanks i`m having a fuel issue my truck will run for awhile but than goes dead no matter what thank is selected have the only thing not checked is sending units in tanks because i thought it funny both would go out at same time second is injectors i`m not much of a mechanic and dont have money to put in shop please help

Check fuel filter first. Sending units are easy but can cost around $100-$150 for both depending on where you buy. Does your truck have the stock fuel pump or is it aftermarket?

 

when the fuel pump went bad I replaced it ( yes, with an after market one ). I had also replaced the Fuel Filter at the same time. Thirty miles later and the engine was running like was on 3 cyl... I removed the fuel filter and cleaned out the Tank thinking maybe the pump sucked up some sediment.
Yesterday I attempted to change out the fuel filter and discovered I can't get the old one out of the bracket because of the tank being in the way, That's where I'm at right now.

 

Where did you install the new pump?

 

The Front gas tank. The rear gas tank was taken out 5 or 6 years ago due to rot.
