Default Fluids Flush

I currently have 98,000 miles on my 05 FX4 SCREW. I am looking to get all my fluids flushed on Thursday. Called the local Ford dealership and they said it would cost around $450. Does this sound like a good deal? I am hoping flushing these out will help the truck out a lot. Can anyone tell me their experience after doing this??

Thanks for the help.

Doing it yourself would be cheaper.

What are they 'flushing'?

-Rad
-Brake fluid
-Diff fluids
-Tranny
-Oil
-Power steering

?

Here getting all the fluids to do that would set you back 100 bucks maybe 150$? Labor kills.

Did a flush on my wife's Mercury Mariner. Just the transmission and power steering. Took about 2 gallons of Mercon V, for the transmission, and about a quart of Mercon for the power steering plus a hand pump from Harbor Freight to suck the fluid out of the power steering fluid container. Less than $60. Transmission shifts a lot better. Used a Chilton's manual for the directions. Local repair shop wanted $300.

That sounds a little steep to me. I would do it myself, but if your not handy check around at the different shops in your area. I was always told to be careful changing transmission fluid. Everything can get a film over top of it. So the new fluid will clean everything. Then the gears won't mesh right anymore. I could be wrong. I'm more of a motor guy.

As long as you get a detailed list of what they are doing $450 is not bad. Synthetic oils are way up in $$$$, gear oil syns and modifiers are costly $8+ a quart, disposal fees. Get the list and get it done.

I'm gonna schedule to get this done too, as long as it's a fair price. If it's too steep I'll tackle it myself, except for the transmission. I understand that needs to be pressurized and flushed to do it properly. I'll post the price quote when I get one. I gotta believe it'll be $300 or so though.
