Default Ethanol? hard on plastic?

I had to replace the fuel pump module on my 2006 Supercrew. The nipple that connects to the fuel filter and then on to the engine broke and was spewing fuel everywhere. Has anyone else dealt with this problem and do you think ethanol is the culprit? Turned out to be a hassle dropping the tank to replace the pump/sending unit.

This ethanol fuel is garbage. Fuel does not evaporate as good as it use to. Mixing some alcohol may help but carb vehicles are not going to run in 5 years if they keep this up.

Normally, ethanol only becomes a problem if the gas sits around for a few months. As ethanol starts to break down, it starts attacking anything rubber or plastic. If you are using ethanol fuel in anything that sits for a while, use Stabil for ethanol, star tron, or somthing designed to keep ethanol stabilized.

Ethenol is the enemy, too bad ethenol free is real hard to find and about $.35-$.40 extra. Its real hard for me being in the military. A deployment or TDY usually means issues when I return. Unless I can find someone to trust with my keys while i'm away. To date, im on my third fuel pump in 6 years.

Run it down to almost E and then put a bunch of stabil in it and run it through the system. That will keep it for at least a year. I think the marine stabil might go for 2 years, but I can't remember.
