Engine Code P06 1B
Hi Guys,
I bought an 08 F150 about a month ago. Great truck until last Saturday. We had about 6 inches of snow fall Friday night and I had a funeral 2 hours away Saturday. While driving there The truck began to jerk every now and then. In 2 and 4 wheel drive and only around 1500-1750 rpms. On the way home that evening it got worse and put the motor into fail safe mode/limp mode. After I turned the car off the fail safe mode was gone and the truck drove better. Well last night we got snow again and again the truck started to jerk. The engine did not go into fail safe mode this time. I went to advanced auto and got a diagnostic done and a P06 1B code came up. Has anyone else had this happen and what was the problem? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

P061B - Internal Control Module Torque Calculation Performance
Indicates a calculation error occurred in the PCM.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector, do the same with the mass air flow sensor connector as well as the PCM connector(s) and check for any corrosion, water intrusion, pushed out pins.
Also check any wiring harness connectors that may have been low enough to the ground where the snow/water may have intruded into.
Other than that it's a trip to the dealer for more in-depth diagnostics.

Thanks for the advise. The spark plugs only have 12000 miles on them. The cops are original. Do you think this could possibly be the problem. From what ive read on here about the misfiring or shuttering issues it sounds exactly like the symptoms I'm having with mine.
Rnlcomp sounds about right. There's one more thing though, it could be your Throttle Actuator Contol. If the throttle plates are frozen, you will get serious stumble and loss of power. Take off your air inlet and check the throttle plates. Sometimes they are literally froze, especially when people don't let the engine warm up and engage the trans immediately. I've only seen this three or four times in my career, but it sounds very similar to your problem. Definitely check the MAF, etc. like Rnlcomp said as well. Keep in mind the salt and sand and other corrosive materials we all have to suck into the engine compartment in the winter, combined with Ford's notorious sensor issues and vague code system.
Hope this helps, feel free to PM me for more help.
