Default Emissions/ EGR

Hey guys i recently bout a 2001 Ford F-150. I'm fairly familier with cars and trucks as i have a restored a 1975 MGB and other misc. items. The dealer i bought it from said the check engine light came on when they got it and said the code had something to do with emissions or a lack of vaccum. (The P.O. ran cheap gas through it). So the dealer took the EGR valves off and cleaned the lines and the light went off. He did this twice. Well driving home tonight and the light comes back on. Any ideas on what i should do? Thanks in advance!

Zach

EGR (SAE numbers):

400 - Flow Error?
401 - Flow Insufficient detected?
402 - Flow Excessive detected?
403 - Flow Recirculation Circ error?

What is the manifold looking like if the EGR is cleaned, works for so long is now clogged and stuck open as in sending a single readout not a moving analog readout so it codes once suck at a set voltage which sets off the code.

i bet it is 401. that's what my 97 had. i didn't change any thing, just cleaned the egr ports in the manifold. i would bet that's you same problem. check your egr valve to see if its working if it not shutting down the engine then its the ports.

I bet it's the EGR Pressure sensor. Ford Part number DPFE4. Go to Discount Auto parts store. The light will go out and your MPG will go up.
