You have a connection fault at the battery, probably a ground fault, caused by the battery cables. Direct current (DC) can be a royal pain because it does not get past corrosion very well not like Alternating current (AC). inspect and trace all of the heavy cables to their attachments. If the cables look at all corroded, and they can't be cleaned replace them. This is one of the things you will run into with older vehicles with their DC electrical systems. It would pay to educate yourself in basic electrical theory. This site (http://www.chelationtherapyonline.com/technical/p43.htm ) has a good tutorial on the subject.
