Electrical Problem

Default Electrical Problem

I have a 98 F-150 that had a dead battery that would not take a recharge so I replaced it. After replacing it I found that with the ignition turned off that my directional signals and blower motor worked when switched on. Also the blower turns on when the AC/heater control is turned to vent with the igition off. Tried pulling all the relays under the hood and in the box under the dash. Also disconected the ignition switch and these circuits were still energized. Help!

Obviously you have a problem, I don't have access to diagrams, older model then is available on the website. All items should work in on, or in accessory position. (Ignition switch) Thinking problem is there, but you say different. Have to think more on this, perhaps someone more familiar will chime in. Good luck.

why is my dome lights and the light above my rear window stay on and draining my battery?

Is your "door ajar" light on too? If so, spray your drivers door latch with WD40. The sensor gets trash on it and makes it think the door is open.

I think it is the GEM thats causing the problems but unable to figure out where it is located on a 98 F150 2x4. Also would like to know what all is controled by the GEM module.

Its behind the fuse panel under the dash on the driver side.

Is the GEM mounted on the back of the fuse panel? I thought from what I have read,that the GEM may be causing my electrical problems, but after looking at your diagram I do not know how. Am I missing somthing?

Thanks fo the info. I read where others have had the same problem that I have and found that their GEM had gotten wet and damaged it. Since my truck is always in the shade, I thought that maybe condensation was causing my problem and a little heat would help. I put a electrical heater in the cab and let it run for three hours and the problems have gone away. I move the truck so it gets sun all day and sofar no problem!
