EGR hoses replaced- temp gauge pegged hot

Just replaced the EGR hoses and now the temp gauge is pegged hot. Disconnected the sensor and restarted but did not change gauge reading. Hoses were replaced due to age and deterioration - one had a split in it - when removing it I found a soft spot - interior part of hose crumbled. What should I check next

He's probably talking about the DPFE hoses that attach to the EGR tube. As far as the pegging hot, could be the gauge, sending unit or a wire some how got shorted to ground. That's my guesses anyway.lol
