id be curious to know if those ford warranties/service plans only pay out at the “warranty rate” and not at their normal rates. Not that that would/should be an excuse, but might explain putting the lowest level person on the work.
I will ask my service manager about the rate structure, he might tell me. I can tell you this, the $1800 i paid for the warranty had been the best investment I made in my truck. So far it has paid for new front calipers, all new trans lines that corroded, new HID headlights (mine were letting moisture in) and numerous fluid leaks. and the list goes on.

and I still have 2 years left on it.

There are diagnostic programs on the market (Forscan, TorquePro and others) but unless you feel comfortable doing your own diagnostics I would take it to another Ford dealership or a well equipped local auto repair shop for a diagnostic. In general air flow and temperature sensors are the issue when mileage is concerned.
I just got done removing/inspecting/re-installing all the air flow areas. The air box and all hoses were attached and I saw no signs of damage to any of the parts. I saw no obstructions anywhere that would restrict air flow.

One question....where does the air cleaner box get its air flow from? Is there an inlet piece somewhere that may have been removed and not replaced during the repair?

Your question here brings up another possibility - I am aware of cases where debris found its way across the air pickup in the fender area. I believe in that case it was a piece of black foam from the windshield area. I am not familar with the arrangement on a 2014.

Keep us informed of your progress on this issue.

Ok, thanks. I will remove the air box and check for obstructions when it comes back from the body shop.

At the air box take a look under the wheel well you might have junk built up there and causing a restriction. Also check the intercooler and clamps. You might have a boost leak.
