Default could it be the TPS

when i start my truck warm or cold it idles really high like some times 1500 rpm or higher sometimes it lowers down to normal, sometimes it dosent. Other times it starts up and idles fine. The idle also sticks high while driving and i can notice it when i come to a stop. I was told it could be the throttle position sensor. This is a new truck to I always owned pre smog trucks. please help, its getting annoying to deal with. thanks
