Question computer wearing down battery

Since the new vehicles have computers that apparently never really shut down and are using some of the battery all the time, how long would you expect your truck to start before the battery dies if not driven? 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks ?

2 weeks should not be a problem 3 is not unheard of. You can have a draw up to .45 of an amp and that is acceptable.

x2, However a battery with a weak or defective cell might drain faster. If the vehicle is going to sit for prolonged times, a solar maintainer is a wise investment.

I am not totally disagreeing with you on the solar maintainer, I had a bad exp with one and will not personally use one. I use a plug in maintainer instead. On this respect bad things can happen to anything electrical so my way may not be the best either. I like the plug in one because it does not requre sun to keep it going so you can put it in a garage with the lights out :-)

this is a good rule of thumb...if your not going to drive your truck for a few weeks just disconnect the battery

That is a PITA. It loses all programming, radio stations, it might not idle good for awhile etc etc. Its better to have a good battery and a maintainer on it.
