i tried this with an old 95 altima (swapping computers with a different year) and i had no luck.

not any computer will work with any truck or car. your best bet would be to have yours rebuilt reflashed (whatever its called) or getting a rebuilt one.

"There are subtle changes from model year to model year in the Ford EEC-V PCM, only *SOME* of which can be addressed by a PCM reflash, so if you need a PCM replacement, it's always preferable to obtain another new Ford PCM of your same computer code. that way you *know* you have the right part, and it's got a warranty, etc.

It is true that for some F-150 configurations, there are several different computer codes from that same model year that may allow it to operate it properly, to be sure. Like a YBQ2, YBQ3, or YBQ4 could be used in any vehicle that had any of those 3 codes from the factory, just for example. But that is by no means across the board, and you have to *know* exactly which codes would work with your specific vehicle, etc. You can't always just grab the PCM from anther F-150 of the same model year with the same engine & transmission, in other words, as that only works *sometimes*."
