Default code p071 with rough idle

I have a '97 f150 with the 5.4. It is running rough at idle and throwing code p071 (lean bank 1). I plugged the hose that goes from the IAC to the throttle body inlet and it smoothed right out. I had good suction on the hose though. Is it a problem between the MAF to throttle body? Thanks, DOn

So i replaced a couple vacuum hoses. I disconnected the MAF and it ran like hell, died at stops. But now it dies if I remobe the IAC line to throttle body. I am just not sure now. Don

I'd help if I could, but I don't know OBDII very well.

Normally the code P0171 by itself would be a intake/exhaust leak but from what you are describing its a IAC problem.
