Cluster Swap Disabled Door Chime?
Replaced the stock instrument cluster on my '06 F150 today with one that included a tachometer. Everything worked fine on it driving wise, and engineer test mode sweep and light test both came back perfect. But what i realized is now I have
- No door ajar message
- No door ajar chime
- No door ajar light (even though on the test it showed the bulb worked)
- No dome light when door is ajar (using dimmer switch on side works, also right after you turn vehicle off it stays on briefly)
- No chime when headlights are left on with no key
Obviously this is a problem relating to the new cluster (not new I should say, from a junkyard), but Im wondering if I need to try again at finding a working instrument cluster, or if my model just rejects an upgraded cluster, or even if there's a hidden setting in Engineer Test Mode that was saved from the previous owner that disabled all those features listed above.
Anyone know anything about these clusters and what settings are stored in them?

Same thing happened to me on my old 2008. Lost all of those functions and just lived with it.
From what I found back then, need to have the new cluster programmed with the as built data from the old one.
This is only an issue on the 06-08. The 04-05 trucks seem to swap without issue.
Yes the seatbelt warning will still work.

Sounds like you got a tach cluster from a high level trim truck with EATC, like a Lariat, FX4 or King Ranch. In those cases, I don’t believe the AC compressor will even cycle.
You need to back down to an XLT cluster.

To be fair, even an XLT cluster will behave the same. That’s what I put in my old 2008 XL. Though, AC will still work.
It was annoying. My truck had a tach. I only replaced it because my curiosity got the best of me and I broke the stepper motors.

Just don’t get one from a truck that had the auto climate control as you’ll lose AC as noted by Johnny above.
