Thumbs up Castrol Edge

I have just changed my oil and have put in a crankcase full of 5-30w Castrol Edge. It will be interesting to see what effects it will have on my 302 V8. I am not looking for any magical things but it will be interesting to see if and by how much it increases my fuel economy.

This stuff is actually more expensive then Royal Purple. Because I have used Castrol products for so many decades you develop some loyalty
for their stuff.

What is kind of interesting about Castrol is their 107 year history. As you might suspect by their name "Castrol" Their first engine oil was based on castor bean oil, Castrol "R" is still available on special order. It was used in World War One aircraft engines. A interesting historical Tid-Bit; if you closely observe old motion pictures of returning pilots during World War One you will note their crew chiefs hand them a flask full of Brandy. What they don't tell you is the reason. For the whole flight these pilots have been breathing in the Castrol R vapors coming off of the engines. As you know castor bean oil is a powerful laxative, by the time these macho pilots return from their patrols they have either dropped a load in their pants, or are on the verge of doing so, either way they have serious abdominal cramps and the Brandy helps kill the pain and relax the colon.
