A/C noise when engaged
Hey all. Bought a '10 f-150 4.6l about a week ago, and today was warm. So I used the A/C. I drove for about an hour when there was a sound.
It went away. Then about a half hour later it came back, and only goes away when I turn off A/C. I finished the drive without A/C thinking "great, the A/C I was looking forward to this summer is going to have to be bypassed because the entire A/C is shot."
At first I thought it was the sound of rubber on a ceased pulley. This was not the case.
When I lifted the hood, I could see the pulley moving without any signs of smoke. The centre was rotating very slowly. Maybe 60 or 120 RPM. When I engaged the A/C it appears to rotate at the same speed.
I'm curious if I may have lucked out and it's a cheap part I can replace or not.
