Default broken stud on trans shift linkage on '97 f150

Wanted to replace the TR sensor due to hard shifting, and snapped the stud off on the shift linkage going into the trans. Is there any tricks for easy repair??

The DTR isn't a likely cause of hard shifting. Which transmission model is it?

It's the 4R70W. The shift control shaft gets rusty inside the transmission range sensor and swells enough to cause binding. I called my local trans shop and they're getting me a used replacement shaft which will replace the broken one. I'll do a oil, filter change while the pan is down. Easy job to swap it out. Had to totally destroy the TR sensor to get it off, but gonna replace it anyway. Thanks for the reply, anyhow.
