Brake Light Issues
My brake lights and hazards will not engage in my 89 with the 4.9. I checked the fuse and that was still good, I tried messing with the brake lights switch and that did nothing. Fuse link L (black and orange wire) is hanging off doing not connected to anything, is that bad? What should that be connected to? If the brake light switch is bad would that affect the hazards since it's on the same fuse?

You need to look at a wiring schematic. A fusable link not going anywhere is an issue.
You said the fuse was good. How did you determine that?
I have (visually) looked at automotive fuses in the past and deemed them good, only to put my (expensive) multimeter on them and find them bad.
Wher is the photo?
Since then, I put together a continuity tester that eliminates the expensive VOM. I have used it to check vehicle wiring & fuses, house wiring and fuses as well as telephone wiring.
This is a very econimical tester. The battery was the most expensive component. See the attached photo. I give everyone rights to my design (LOL).
