Post best code scanner?

Sorry if there is already a thread regarding this topic. If there is, i cant find one..

well basically i am just looking around for an OBD-II code scanner. I figure i will have my truck until the wheels fall off, so i might as well invest in one that is capable of scoping out errors that might arise. My question is which brand would be the best for Ford vehicles or which brand have you had the most success out of.

I know autozone will scan for free, but i would like to have my own. Thanks in advance.

The sky is no limit to the price of a "good" scanner. I get along very nicely with an Innova/Equus Model 3030. The price is about 60 bucks. OBD2 systems since 1996 are universal, not vehicle-specific.

alright i will check into that one. its good to hear from someone who has actual experience with these things as apposed to sheer internet research.. which is actually where i got the info about finding one that was more geared for certain brands more than others. i didnt figure that was right anyhow.. but thanks for letting me know what device you use!

I use the Innova/Equus 3130, reads codes, gives you the PID(parameter identification data) and live data. I agree the skys the limit when buying one.

I know this is a really old post but this scanner works the best for whoever is still looking for one. I've had it for years and no issues, I have a few at my shop and they all work amazing. https://dieselscanners.com/products/...r-truck-repair
