Battery Basics
All, hopefully this is the right sub forum. I purchased a new 2018 XLT 2 weeks ago and the dealership agreed to throw in a new battery. The build date was 01-10-18 and the battery I have in now is stamped 01/15/18. How do I tell if this is a "new" battery? Could this battery have been sitting at the dealership unused for that long and its still considered new?
Thanks,
Pangus

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I should have clarified more.
Because the date on the battery is so close to the date on the vehicle's Window Sticker, I'm concerned that the dealership never actually gave me a new battery. Is there any way to confirm if the dealership actually gave me a new battery?
The only way I could see that they did give me a new battery is if the dates are just a coincidence and the new battery had been sitting on the shelf for 8 months. I'd think that a battery sitting on a shelf would be in better shape than a battery terminated in a vehicle and constantly depleting itself on the lot.
