Exclamation While checking my Tranny Fluid?

Hey Guys,
This afternoon I unscrewed the Tranny Dipstick bolt on my 2016 F150 XLT to check the fluid level. As soon as it came out it poured out transmission fluid.
Is this normal? The DipStick location is where you would fill the transmission so how could it be over filled at the point where you would fill it?
Thank you in advance!!

Are you checking fluid on level ground?

I am guessing you have a leak somewhere that is adding fluid to the the tranny. I'd check all fluid levels. Especially, the transfer case and coolant. Those are the 2 places that I can think of off the top of my head where additional fluid could come from.

Was the engine running? If the engine is not running, these transmissions will pour out fluid and show overfull when removing the dipstick/plug.
