Axle Fluid change
I bought my 2016 F150 with 48,000 on it, I now have 62,000 miles. I am wanting to change out both front & rear axle oil. Looking for oil recommendations, I pull a camper maybe 6 times a year. Also looking for tips or tricks on this procedure. Might do the transmission fluid as well. Any good advice would be appreciated
Thanks

get a pump from harbor freight and pump the old oil out of the diffs and put the factory motorcraft diff oil. its synthetic lubricant. do your transfer case too. do a drain and fill with a filter on the transmission.

For the transfer case and rear diff, make sure you can remove the fill plug before you do any work. If you are going to suction out the rear diff then I guess you have no choice but to make sure it isn't stuck before you begin. ha

Why? Is either one due on the maintenance schedule? Unless you use the truck commercially or in heavy dust or deep water, they're probably NOT. Read the owner guide.

One option combining all of these posts might be to remove the fill plug, suck a small amount of fluid out, examine it, and if it is not full of particulates or moisture, put the fill plug back in and leave it alone. That's what I would do if I was unsure of fluid quality on a used vehicle. Transmission fluid can be examined on the dip stick.

Trying to figure it out!
Downside about the transmission fluid is after a couple of thousand miles it looks old and really doens't smell 'new' either.
As far as changing fluids, At 60k I did all of them except the front diff because I didn't have a way to get it out easily. and I don't drive 4wd a lot. Everything will get changed at 120k though.
Ford engineers may have designed it and say it can go 100k without being changed but they also say the oil can go 8k - that ain't happening either. They're not going to be the person paying for repairs.

The ULV that's used makes the fluid look like it should gave been change at 10k miles but there was very little debris in it. It could probably go longer but since you only get to change out about half of it by dropping the pan I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea.
The rear duff and transfer case were also pretty clean but I feel better with clean stuff. In there. And the rear end had been changed around 30k because the cover was leaking.
