Auto 4x4 sound when turning

Auto 4x4 sound when turning

When I turn while in Auto 4x4 there is a slight grinding sound - it is not present when in 4x2 or 4 High.

This occurs when driving on snow.

Any thoughts?

That is the 4x4 acting in "auto" mode. It engages and disengages as needed.
