Default ABS Module Replacement

Hi All,
My local dealer tells me I need to replace the ABS Control Module on my 2008 F150 FX4 (5.4L). At over $1100 I prefer to do it myself but I have a couple questions:
1) does the replacement ABS Module need to be "programmed" after installation ?
2) will simply replacing the module turn off the ABS and Brake Warning lights (or is that a separate scan tool function after installation) ?
I haven't been able to find an answer to these questions. Apparently, beginning with the 2008 models the ABS Module went from a KH unit to a Teves unit. Already looked into having the existing one rebuilt but it turns out the Teves units are not rebuildable. So, it looks like I'm going to have to replace the module with a Ford part (the part alone was $769).
Thanks,
Lou R

The module, should be programmed when installed, and once installed, you will need a scan tool to bleed the brake system of all air, because there will be air in the control unit that can only be removed by activating the unit while bleeding brakes.

Why not scam one from a junk yard.. and what DTC’s are coming up when they read the ABS light. First time I have heard of an 08 needing a new module.

I had my abs module repaired. Installed it. lights are still on. the repair shop says that no programming is needed if you reinstall the original module. If you replaced with different one, then yes.. I am sending the abs module back to have it the repairs rechecked

UPDATE: so I got the ABS module back, original one. Installed, Nothing happened. Lights are still on. Truck rides perfect, brakes work like they should. The lights should go out on their own.
But now I am unable to comm with the abs part of the brake system. Not able to comm with the SRS part also. I tried 3 different scanners with same result. But I am able to scan for engine codes. ok. I've checked for broken wires at scanner port and the wiring I can think of. I am at a stand still but am still driving my truck.
Just hate the lights on just staring at me when driving.
If I have any updates. I will post . thanks
