2015 Brake Issues
Back Story.... I purchased my truck new in 2015 and it currently has 102,000 miles on it. I generally commute to work 25 miles each way on back roads that do not require much in the way of brake use. On the weekends I do not often encounter stop and go traffic and also do some light towing with a boat. I live in a rural part of CT, so stop and go traffic is not a thing I encounter often.
So here is my issue. At 46K miles my rear rotors were warped pretty bad. Plenty of meat on the pads still and nothing wrong with the front brakes. I replaced the rear pads and rotors and everything was right again. Well I didn't do it, my local shop did. Two years later the rear rotors warped again. No change in driving habits, just regular light uses for commuting and weekend driving. This time I went to a dealership, and they were able to turn the rotors. This fixed the issue and there was no more wobble. The following year, my rear brakes warped again, and the fronts were due to be replaced as well. At that time, I had the dealership replace everything. I voiced the concern at this time that something does not seem right and asked them to check the brake system over and make sure there was not anything "dragging" or not working right. They said everything was good. I've had several cars in the past, never once have I warped a set of rotors, and here it's happened to me on this vehicle 3 times in under 100K miles. So now I am a little over a year out and the rear rotors are showing again vibrating and the dealership said they needed to be turned. Again, this fixed the issue. Now 4 months later, the issue back. It's not all the time and some days it's not really noticeable. Others, its prevalent and extremely frustrating. If I am hard on the brakes, the wobble is minor at best, and the truck stops in what appears to be normal fashion. But light braking, omg. Wobble, vibration etc. But not at the steering wheel.
I really don't know where to start but am fed up with no answers from shops and dealerships. I'm mechanically inclined and have worked on cars in the past and am considering just replacing the rear rotors, pads and calipers. Putting it out here to see if others have issues that might have been similar and can share their journey and findings. I don't want to dump money into something that's not the problem just the symptom.
Thanks in advance....
