Turn signals
I’m
Im having the same problem,is there anyway you could send me a picture of where the ground is located, I can’t find it. My truck is a 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat
I was finally able to get a hold of a wire diagram yesterday and was able to track all the issues back to a common point being G8. The ground was on the passenger side under the kicker panel, under the fuse box.
The ground was completely rusted through, so I made new ends, cleaned some of the paint off and re-located the grounds and now the truck is working perfectly.

Blinkers
Found the ground behind the fuse box,it was totally rusted and corroded. Stipped the wires clean, regrounded them and everything works perfectly, the info here really helped..

One day i started my truck and noticed my ac was not operating and my radio was flashing until the display disappeared i also had no blinkers when my headlights were turned on. At first i thought i had a alternator problem but that checked out ok. Than possibly heater blower motor resistor i unplugged it but nothing changed. Now i was getting nervous until i came across this thread . Sure enough i went to the ground wires under the fuse box gave them a slight tug and they came unattached. i would have never thought this was the problem since there is no rust on the exterior but that spot was terrible.
i want to say thank you very much my ford is full of surprises crazy things suddenly break and i am glad this problem is behind me.

Thank you gentlemen for providing this post! I have a 2005 F150 that had the turn signals come on faintly when I turned on the fan blower / air conditioner. When I saw this post I checked the ground under the fuse box and when I tugged on it, the surrounding metal just crumbled and the ground post came away in my hand! I think I have found and fixed the water leak, re-positioned and re-mounted the ground connection and all is working fine now!

Hello, I have a 2004 F150 FX4 with a very unusual problem.
With my headlights OFF all functions work. (turn signals work, hazards work, brake lights work)
With the headlights ON the dash lights do not work, turn signals do not work, hazards do not work.
I have checked all fuses and bulbs, everything is in working order.
With the headlights on you can see a faint glow of both the turn signals and hi-beam light. the turn signals do not even click or anything.
My thought has to be that whatever the headlights and multi function switch share has to be bad. Has anyone ever had this problem or know something that i am over looking or missing?

Thanks for starting this post! I had the exact same problems as the original poster, and the help in the comments is what helped me get this problem found and fixed in less than an hour and for less than $5! My ground looked intact, and I couldn't move it with my fingers. But the trick I used to test that it was that ground location, was to attack a set of jumper cables directly from the negative side of the battery to the wires in question, and all of the problems were eliminated immediately! A mechanic buddy of mine gave me that tip, so I thought I would pass it along.

Yes! Thanks for posting all the pictures guys, saved me a lot of time and money, as I had the exact same issues and fixing this ground did the trick! Total cost = zero!
Thanks to everyone on this thread. Same issue for me and would have never figured out out without this.
pIx of what I did

Turn signals not working when headlights are on, shifter locking
First off, THANK YOU!!! I had similar issue as stated above and it was resolved after I fixed this ground.
Here is what was happening to me and my 2005 F-150 xlt. One morning shifter would get stuck in park, turn signals quit working, hazards werent working and headlights would only work in high beam.
I unlocked the shifter by sticking screwdriver into slot under steering wheel and drove it home. Next day I got new flasher relay because the original one seemed to quit working. Now my turn signals were working and shifter wasn't getting stuck in park anymore. However if I turned headlights on I would see both turn signals faintly illuminate on the dash and they would not turn on. If I turned the headlights off turn signals were working again. However, the radio clock would be flashing when turn signal was on. At that point I came to conclusion that there must be a bad ground somewhere and it was the same location as everyone else described above. Right under the fuse box on the passenger side, it just crumbled out.
I figured I would add my success story to the post.
As a side note, does anyone know WHY it gets so rusted on that side? Where is the leak from? Driver side looked brand new.
