I have an 01 F-150 lariat with the 5.4. I've only had it four months, and it has 100k on it. Since its been below freezing here its had some issues starting. It will start, then go to the fast idle, then it dies. I thought it might be the idle control sensor, but outside of that I have no ideas. If I hold the accelerator down and start it, then let it run at about 1500 RPM, it runs just fine. Not a huge problem, but inconvenient. Any suggestions?

 

might check all the filters, im not a mechanic but when i have things that act like that i usually have a clogged filter.
