Default Muffler delete

I want to do a muffler delete on my 5.0 f150 can I just cut the muffler off than take it to the muffler shop to get a pipe welded in place?

I did it. Sounds better than any aftermarket muffler in my opinion. Not too loud but definitely a great sound. No in cab drone either.

I kinda did. Bout 4yrs ago I put an 18in glasspack on so it's basically straight pipe now. Sounds good imo. But since it's been so long I'm wanting a different sound.

I just cut off my muffler and am running a straight pipe. You guys have any trouble with ur truck with it causing it to pop the wrench light? My truck keeps going into limp mode.

Would removing the muffler cause any emissions issues/warnings that you should be concerned about?

I did this to my 2013 STX 5.0 over a year ago and have not had a single problem. I have gotten lots of compliments on the sound of the truck included the muffler shop who did the job for me. They are a Flowmaster dealer and agreed my cheaper method was pretty impressive for the little bit of work it took.

Seems like that mod would be a midrange torque and MPG killer.

How would opening up the exhaust affect the torque?

The same way running to large of header diameter kills low end torque. Google is your friend. Are you building a race car that lives at 7000 RPM or driving a street truck that lives in low-mid rpms's , generally one needs to be conscious of exhaust velocity and scavenging, opening the exhaust up with large holes is not the best stradegy for a truck application unless you are running 180 mph in a circle.
