Default Modified Snap-Rest

Got one of the 09-14 arm rest accessories and didn't like the gap it left between it and the door panel so I made use of my Dremel to rectify it.

Before mod...

Dremel to remove the side of the cup nearest the door panel, about 1/4" or so and place on other side as a shim, helps if you unscrew the base from the top, just poke thru the sticker, 10 screws in all. Used a little electrical tape just to keep it in place, when you smack it down into the arm rest pocket it wedges itself in.

Also used some industrial strength Velcro just for a little more secure stick as it tended to pull out when closing the door (pre modification)

Gap gone and that sucker ain't going no where without prying it out.

Good idea!
I've been hesitant on getting one of these & wanted to see about long term longevity. And this seems to have this problem pretty quick out of the box.

Another idea for manufacture, (if they're listening): make the base bottom thick enough, or even impregnated with metal, so the customer will need to REMOVE the bolt from that square access panel, and install with a longer bolt.

But in the mean time, RnlComp.... You're definitely on to a great idea!
Keep us posted through the weeks on the longevity on the results on your mod to this item.

Hi

We are going to introduce a version with a bolt, we're testing that idea already, we need to assess the necessary changes to the bottom of the adapter.

Have a great day,
Maciek

May not need a bolt or screw to hold it, maybe just the surface tension with the rest flush against the door panel for a tighter fit.

I've had mine installed since Oct 29th 2015. I love this thing. Mine isn't gaped much at all, no mods. Just stuck it in per directions.

No change. I still have to be careful how I pull on it.

That's because they revised it after I posted what I did.
