Remember when I said that the license plate mount in the rear hitch receiver was temporary? Well, I finally made good on that.

Right after I got the truck in 2013, I had a dump trailer jump the ball and mash the lower edge of my tailgate. A subsequent run in with a tree in Death valley, left my tailgate with 2 very noticeable dents. After looking for many months, I've given up trying to find the re$ource$ to justify the purchase of a new tailgate ($1200!!!!). So, I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone: make a license plate bracket that will allow my to cover one of the dents. While, it too may prove to be temporary, at least I won't have that awful lower dent staring at me anymore.

dump trailer crunch

.065 aluminum

Painted and riveted to the tailgate

Now I have my trailer hitch back!

Just came back to this post to show someone else your awesome bumper work. Definitely did not mean it wasn't worth the money. The finished product more than shows the time, materials and quality of work you put in. Still one of the best looking bumpers in fit, form and function that I've seen--store-bought or otherwise.

Hey, I remember your post. I thought it was funny. ("Government prices") Loved it! Thank you so much for your sentiments, I appreciate it!

I've actually expanded my business to include off road, truck specific custom items/repairs/fabrications. My business, "Innovative Concepts" now has the new division "Innovative Overland". I'm having decals made up right now. I'll be focusing on drive-in business mostly. I'll make bed slides, repair frames, rack systems, etc. Anything for the off roader/overlander.

Have fun!

Ever get any grief from Leo about the lack of a license plate light?

Not yet... but it's on the drawing table. I'll make one what I get a round tuit.

I love your work, mostly because you really think out of the box. This is mine that I’m working on, it is not my own design....except a few little things.

Rear bumper... it’s upside down
