Yep, another exhaust thread
Hey everyone, I'm thinking of replacing the OEM muffler with a Magnaflow 12229 on my 2018 5.0. Couple of questions for anyone who may have this setup or have knowledge of the results.
1. Resonator delete...yes or no?
2 Drone in cab at highway speeds?
I realize that exhaust sound is a subjective thing, but I'm not looking for something too loud, (but louder than stock) and, especially, little to no drone. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Redeye

This is the muffler I run on my '18 5.0. I kept the resonator on mine. I have absolutely zero drone in the cab at any cruising speed. I do run my tailpipe a little different though. I cut the stock tailpipe just after the bend over the rear axle with a 12in tip facing downward. I have run my exhaust like this on probably eight different trucks and this routing of the tailpipe helps with eliminating drone in my opinion. It also gives a clean look out the back. Truck sounds great on start up and acceleration while staying quite in the cab when at cruising speeds.

I think the 12249 with the factory resonator is a great combo.
Mine has the factory turnout, I just added a tip. I get a touch of resonant drone from 1800-2100 under load, pretty quiet below and above that. It's definitely not too loud.
