Default XL Regular Cab

I have been looking to possibly ordering a XL Regular cab F150 with only options being 5.0 and towing package. When built online MSRP is a little over $28k. Anyone out there with a regular cab post what you paid and what the MSRP was? I was hoping to get what I wanted around $20k or so. I may hold off until next year depending on price I can get, but planning ahead.

I couldn't get one. Ford ran out of RC frames during the summer. You can't get the kicker sub and bucket seats / console with a regular cab either, so I went with the extended cab. Maybe for the '16 model year.

Yeah I might have to wait for '17 model year if same holds true next year. Heck, by then I may hold out for a Ranger if they bring it back to replace my '94 Ranger. I am going to pickup my '16 Mustang I ordered on 10/9. I will check to see what the dealer says then.

I have a RCSB XL 4x4 no options. Sticker was 31,600, D-plan plus rebates was 25,900. It took 4 months order to delivery.

You can order a regular cab next month, but I read they are late availability again. You might be in for a long wait, especially for a 5.0. The 5.0 RCSB never did get built in 15, all the orders were cancelled. You never know though, I had just about given up on mine and it showed up out of the blue one day, built 10 days before.

There was actually a few RCSB 5.0's built, albeit VERY few.

You're basically looking at the lowest margin Truck ford makes. Invoice is only ~$1500 off msrp, holdback is ~$750. So take that and add whatever rebates are available (and there aren't typically many on XL's), and that's the best you should expect. $20k is a bit optimistic, $23k-$25k is more realistic.

My last truck was a 2004 XL with an MSRP of $21,755 and I paid $15,000. Obviously that was a long time ago.

I think they were pre-production test runs or something. Seriously there probably were single digit production numbers for them. I saw one for sale at a dealer in the midwest on cars.com, black, XLT loaded with options. It had a ridiculously early build date on the sticker. When Ford balanced out on RC trucks and were cancelling orders, I figured if mine got cancelled I might fly out and get that one. It was a lot more than mine, but after the 4 month wait I had some extra cash.

I contemplated ordering the 5.0, but figured it would never show up if I did. I was right it seems. I didn't want the 2.7, the start/stop would drive me nuts. So the 3.5 it was, 280 hp turns out to be totally adequate in a 4200 lb truck, I'm satisfied with it.

I think the 2016 regular cab's with the special edition (basically a '16 Tremor) package would be sweet. The 2.7 would also be a good engine if I could build something to defeat the start/stop on every engine cycle on my behalf.

Edit: I thought the special edition package was going to be offered on all cabs, but it turns out I was wrong which is unfortunate.
