Default X-plan buying process

Question for those who have utilized the special Ford plan pricing to purchase their trucks.

Once the plan PIN number is acquired, do you just stroll into a dealer and say, "Greetings, I'm here to buy said truck at the X-plan price?"

I've seen plenty of threads explaining how to qualify for X-plan pricing, but none explaining how the process works once you qualify.

Thanks for any and all information.

Pretty much. When you're doing your order the DORA sheet showed pricing for all of the different plans -- MSRP, invoice, A/X/Z plans were all clearly listed. I used Z plan, when we were doing the purchasing paperwork there was a separate sheet that I put the pin in and sponsor information and that was that.

Sounds simple enough. Thanks Doc.

For a lease, does the X-plan have a better APR/money factor? I have heard both yes, half a percent lower, and no it's the same rate as non-x-plan.

I was like the OP in the beginning, then after the very first dealer contact having told me they sell new orders @ invoice, thus lower than X plan anyway, thus, I don't need a PIN. From there I found it easy to order at invoice price point and I just asked via email, no haggle. Lower than invoice seems to be the challenge for non "plan" buyers.
No need to join Mustang clubs or other X plan PIN sources!

Not wise to trust dealerships

XPlan is less than invoice in my hood

Several misconceptions / misstatements.

1) X-Plan's relationship with invoice is determined by a formula. You can't say it's lower, or higher, because it depends on the formula.

Pricing Formula
X-Plan is a pre-determined price based on dealer invoice or A-Plan price depending on brand. The X-Plan price is noted on the dealer invoice.
X-Plan

Ford
Dealer Invoice - (0.4% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee* (see sample invoice)
Lincoln
Dealer Invoice + (0.6% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee* (see sample invoice)

*$275 Administration Fee.

2) X-Plan fixes the paperwork fee at a max of $100. Buying directly from the dealer does not.

3) All X-Plan (and other plan) sales are audited by Ford to ensure that the customer gets every rebate, isn't charged anything they shouldn't be, and that the dealer doesn't throw in things (assuming they are on the paperwork) that they should not. The only thing not audited is the trade-in, although the documentation is reviewed.

If your dealer sells at invoice, then tacks on their $500-$700 dealer fee, it comes out higher than X plan.

The dealer fee is included in the x plan invoice too. It's part of the factory invoice, but isn't reflected on sites like kbb and nada.

I just finished negotiating for my truck...the formula posted above works for getting to the factory invoice price (xplan -275)/.996.
