buy a used tuner?

I'm considering buying a used tuner. I've never used a tuner before and have no experience with them. I'm looking at a SCT X4. How can I confirm its unmarried? also, aside from making sure its unmarried, what are the risks when buying a used tuner? Is there a way to restore it to factory default and retain the canned tunes that come on the X4? i've got a 2015 f150 xlt scab 3.5 eco 4x4. im looking at the 7015 model of the SCT x4

I have bought several used tuners in the past. The seller has to understand that it has to be unmarried before selling. Make sure that they mention it in the description or have picture proof that it isn't vin locked. There isn't a downside of buying a used tuner. You save money and get the same tune.

Yes. Have them take a picture on the settings page displaying its unmarried.

I don't see why not.

I removed my new tuner from the plastic in my truck, connected it to WiFi, loaded my tune, then put the tuner in the glovebox.

Whoever ends up with it after I'm done is going to have an essentially brand-new tuner.

Incidentally if you ever end up with a married X4 it can be "Fixed".
Last I checked it was about $150 which isn't cheap but if you already have it...
I think one of the reasons it's that expensive is you need a new license from SCT.

I'm looking to buy a tuner and would consider buying used "unmarried" tuner. Anyone suggest a good location for locating a used tuner? Thanks...

I ended up not buying but I did find several used 'unmarried' for sale. I searched places like facebook marketplace and ebay.
