Default Wiring question: Park signal

Does anyone (especially those of you with service manuals) know where I can locate a circuit that indicates in-park/out-of-park status? This would be for a column shift (Lariat 501A).

Before someone asks why, this would be for an emergency vehicle install. We use park kill to disable flashing white light, change flash patterns, disable the siren, etc. Ford makes it easy on the Interceptor vehicles by providing this directly in one of the connectors. Not so much on the F150.

I can always install a microswitch into the steering column, but I thought I'd ask first.

DRL's turn off in park and on in drive, could you tap that?

I could, but DRLs will likely be disabled. There are times where being able to black out and approach an area quietly can be useful... DRLs are counterproductive to that.

There has to be something... Daytime running light must get a trigger from the shifter or transmission control module. Even if you disable the DRL, the input would still be active.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I'm just hoping it's not some CANbus signal, multiplexed signal, etc.

I need the full wiring diagram for the column shift... I could probably find it then.

Yeah, it may be tricky to get a useful signal. Micro switch may be the easiest solution. Maybe someone can give you a real answer

Can bus. I know because when I was sniffing the can I found the values for each gear. I have a column shifter too.

Edit. Looks like there is a switch transmission park detect. That goes to the ipc. Green wire

Oh, I'm certain it's on the canbus too. But is it also on a discrete wire? Any idea what connector that green wire can be found in?

My purpose is to control emergency vehicle lighting. To that end, I'm installing a Sound Off BluePrint system... one component is the Link system, which provides a ton of signals, including gear, to the control box. They are using a box from Intermotive: http://www.intermotive.net/
You can buy one direct and use discrete wiring if you wish. Not the cheapest solution, but the Right Way to do things.
