Default Wireless/Internet

Anybody messed with the wifi on your truck? I've got the 2015 f 150 XLT FX4 package w/out navigation or climate control. Just curious as to how to use and what uses I would have for the wifi??? I also have no clue as to what the "Access Point" stuff is or how to use it either.

The access point allows you to set up a WiFi network inside the truck for passengers to use. In order for that to work you need either a compatible USB cellular modem to plug in, or a cell phone that will allow you to tether. What i mean by that is, on my iPhone, i can allow it to share the cellular internet over bluetooth, MyFord Touch uses that as it's internet connection for the WiFi network. That's a super high level overview of it.

Its pretty useless if you are using your phone, unless you are trying to connect a ton of devices. The mobile hotspot has always been sufficient for me. Turn it on and wife connects with the laptop. Going through the truck allows more connections but really how many computers/tablets etc are you really trying to connect?

If you have a USB mobile broadband card then it would be pretty useful.

If it had enough range to share with a car caravaning behind you I could see some fun uses.

Default Wireless/Internet?Center Console Display

New to forum here, getting started with 2021 F150 Hybrid, generator on back is great, torque is great, still learning center console. Does anyone know if center console can be used to access internet, or using hotspot or CarPlay, use center console as web browser display? I see the 2021 comes with Cisco Webex preloaded (not that I want that) .. thanks, and apologies is this is already been asked or answered in below threads and I missed

Try posting in the 2021+ section. You might get a better answer there. BTW, welcome.

Thanks _- will take a shot over at the 2021 — just spent some time with Ford IVT service, with no success — the only question I had was, with ATT Hotspot connected, if I wanted to show the same browser display on my phone, on the center console, can it be done? Ie say I got to job site early or was camping and wanted to use the 12 inch center console as the display, verse my phone. I know you can do that via iPhone / CarPlay with carjack app — but was looking to see if the ATT Hotspot package can also do that (ATT says yes, Ford says no) .. so if you already have hotspot on your phone, not sure why you would want to pay ATT for hotspot ...

Your conclusion has been reached by many. Few have come up with a reason other than "different carrier, works better than my phone carrier".
