Default Wireless Charging Pad

I recently rented a 2019 Expedition and really liked the wireless charging pad built in to the front console compartment and am wondering if I can retrofit one on to my 2017 screw. Anyone pioneered this yet?

If you're handy you can buy bare coils dirt cheap and make your own holder. I've made a few with magnet mounts and they've worked well.

I forgot to mention... The closer you can get the coil to the phone the faster it charges. 2-4mm is ideal but you can go as high as 9-10mm. Keep that in mind if you're thinking about putting it behind some factory plastic. Account for phone case thickness as well.

Thank you for the suggestions. I’ll definitely go the coil option if necessary but I was hoping that the one for the Expedition would just bolt right in and I could retain the factory look...
Is the factory unit mounded into the entire center console or does that compartment bolt on separately?

I was in Phoenix last week and rented an Edge Titanium that had all the bells and whistles. I was surprised to find a wireless charging pad as well. I sure wish the F150's had them and some USB-C ports! Ford needs to keep up with the competition, technology wise, if they want to maintain the top spot!

The OEM charging pad itself is available for about $120 from Tasca.

I wonder if it runs off of a module and will it bolt up....

That’s what I’m hoping to find out before going down that road. Maybe a wiring diagram from a 2019 Expedition would give us the answers.
