Winter Tire Help
Probably a dumb question, just wanted to confirm before getting winter tires...
I have a 2016 157 wheelbase supercrew. Tire size is 275/55/20 113T. Rim size 20x8.5. They are the 20" inch PVD wheels.
Am looking into winter tires. I have picked up a set of oem 17" wheels. 17x7.5. The stock tires on them are 265/70/17

^Wheels I am using as winters.
Both offsets are 44.
1. Does this make a difference having same offset on a 8.5 vs 7.5 inch wheel? Is one going to stick out/in more than the other or visually the same?
2. Do I get a 265/70/17 winter tire? Or what is the correct size?
3. Assuming original lug nuts will fit? Or am I better off getting a second set for winter?
Obviously want as little to no change in my speedo and correct size tire specs to match the original wheel/tire size.
Am planning on most likely getting tires from costco. They have four tires listed in 265/70/17(assuming correct size?). Any advice on which to go with? I am in the greater toronto area in ontario canada for driving conditions. Or if anyone has any advice on which tire brand to go with and advice on where to purchase(GTA-Hamilton ONT).
Michelin - LTX Winter - $945.96(w/rebate)
Bridgestone - Blizzak W965 - $999.96
Michelin - Latitude X-Ice XI2 - $857.96(w/rebate)
Bridgestone - Blizzak DM-V2 - $799.96
(Prices are listed in CDN)
Obviously any savings would be nice so would be leaning toward the cheaper ones unless the other models are really worth it.
Thanks in advance! This forum is very helpful.

Never had snow tires on my truck yet, but I’ve ran blizzard on my RWD BMW for the past 5 or 6 winters with great results. In my low, rwd car I’ve made it through places I’ve seen small suvs and other cars completely stuck.
The blizzak, IMO, is the best winter tire you can buy.
...any winter tire, especially the ones you listed, you can’t go wrong with. Any of them you choose will have 10000x better traction than regular all season tires.
I can only imagine my truck with blizzaks, would literally go through anything during the winter I would imagine.

Check out the wheel offset calculator at 1010tires;

265/70R17 would be the correct diameter you are looking for.
I believe your OEM lugs should fit the new steel wheel.

If you're using OEM rims but they're steel, costco may want to sell you an acorn style lug nut however the OEM lug nuts will work.
I am in Sask but grew up in Ont. From your list I'd recommend either:
Michelin - Latitude X-Ice XI2 - $857.96(w/rebate)
Bridgestone - Blizzak DM-V2 - $799.96
They're better winter on-road options then the other two you listed. If you're doing truck stuff off-road then the others may be better.
I have goodyear ultragrip wrt's on my truck but the ones you're looking at are better. With that said i really like having winter tires even with a truck.

The 17 oem rims are 34 offset unless you get raptor rims, they are 44... I run Michelin defenders and they stick like glue for me in Chicago winters
Thanks for the responses!
Wheels I am planning are OEM 17" alloys. See below.

Both websites state 44 offsets, can someone confirm?
So from my understanding these will sit the same as my 20" wheels?
and 265/70/17 is correct tire size?

Carful with hubcap haven...they may look oem but are made overseas to there specs.. I've heard ok stories and nightmare stories from them..personally I would search this forum, eBay and Craigslist for oem rims, I scored brand-new raptor rims tires and tpms for the price of tires alone.
that rim in true oem spec is 34 mm...cant speak for that vendor spec

If both wheels are the same offset a 8.5” rim is going to stick out .5” (or 12.5mm) more than a 7.5” wheel.
I get the tallest and narrowest tires I can get for my winter wheels. Michelin and blizzaks are both great.
If the snow is pretty deep the blizzaks don’t do as well in my experience because the voids in the tire can’t clear out. But that is pulling trailers. Empty you should have no issues.

Also I would run a narrower winter tire than the 265's. A good site that tells the story well is Tire Rack--and they will give you size recommendations on line. Snow tires work best in narrow sizes instead of wider so that there is more lbs/in2 on the ground for better traction.
