Insurance companies have the right to use whatever is written in your auto policy. SOMETIMES, aftermarket glasses are more expensive than OEM, but depends on make and model. Im in the collision industry and deal with insurance companies all the time. You can demand all you want but.......

A lot of OEM auto glass is made in Mexico.

Carlite makes Ford glass.

The aftermarket glass put into my truck has been fine. It was actually quieter than OEM.

Up here in Canada, windshields are a wear item.

If you use Safelite, be sure and specify OEM. I had the windshield replaced in my '06 F150 and the one they installed wasn't quite as thick as the original one.

Update: turns out, they showed up with a Ford oem (Carlite) All is good, nice to have showroom clean glass once again.
