Default Window Tint

Picked up my 2015 Platinum a few weeks ago and love the truck. Only issue is I told the dealer several times to match the front window tint to the back windows. When I picked up the truck the fronts were much lighter than the backs. When I called them on it they said it is illegal in Kansas to go 20% on the fronts. It has always been illegal in KS but this is the 4th truck I have bought from this dealer and they have matched it every other time. If they weren't going to match it I wish they would have told me so I could have taken it somewhere else that would have done it correctly. How big of a job is it to have a shop remove the current tint and replace it with the 20%? Thanks

Front windows are no problem especially if it was recently done. They may or may not charge you for the removal, even though it's as easy as peeling and cleaning of any left over residue. If your not happy with it, it's worth it.

I'm just curious, why would you want an illegal tint? Doesn't it make it more likely to get pulled over and harassed? Esp after a beer or 2.

I know here in RI the staties carry tint meters with them and love to check whenever they can.

Matched my windows and get no heat from the man. Besides, it looks awesome.

Some places aren't as strict with enforcing. I think color of the vehicle makes a difference in it too. Had a red explorer with 20% up front for 5 years never had an issue.

Did it again on a white car and within 6 months got stopped twice. warning first time, $200 ticket the second. I've gone back to keeping it legal on the f150 as when tickets are more then the cost of the tint itself it just doesn't feel worth it anymore. Both times I was pulled over it was literally just to check the tint, no other violations that they then asked about tint. IMO matched looks great but not worth hassle if you live somewhere they can pop you for it

Thanks for the replies. I really like the looks of the 20% tint on the fronts. I have had it on all my trucks over the past 10 years and have never had an issue with the po po around here.

Just get a doctor's note saying your eyes are sensitive to light... Then it's a medical condition and you're free to have them as dark as you want.

P.S. I'm not a lawyer so don't take it as legal advice.

Noob question. Is 20% the match for the front windows to the rear?

I've had my windows matched to the rear 20% on about every vehicle I have owned.
My 14' mustang has the same exact tint as my 150 but looks way darker because you have to look down into it and it has a black interior. its also the only vehicle ive ever got a tint ticket in.
