Default Wind noise

2020 f150 with 30k suddenly has developed a bad wind noise on drivers side door / window area. Trying some of the troubleshooting tips from previous posts on other model year trucks but nothing has changed.

not sure whether a dealership or a body shop is my next step or which one to try?

Mess with the weatherstripping. Pull away from door a bit, it will create a better seal.

@Neil Toland Agree with what @SpencerPJ said. Close a dollar bill between the door and the cab, with the door close, use and up and down motion as you slide the bill along the perimeter of the door. Where the dollar bill becomes easier to move, the weatherstripping is not sealing as well. Some folks have inserted backer rod into the weatherstripping to make it thicker and create a better seal.

I thought I had an intermittent wind noise above 50 mph. Ended up being the IWE rattling when the vacuum check valve was leaking. Updated check valve fixed it.

It sounded so much like wind though. I didn't realize it was the IWE until I put the truck in 4wd auto while it was happening and the noise immediately stopped.

Just something to think about and easy to check.

You can start with weatherstripping. Wipe it clean, ensure it's not bound, torn or come loose somewhere, and lubricate it lightly with a bit of Krytox or silicone grease to keep it supple. I do this about once a year on mine. If that's not it... good luck.

When I first got my truck I thought it had wind noise, turned out to be the cooled front seats fan, lol!
