lol I wouldn't call Sync a Microsoft product. The Sync interface was created by Ford and a few other contractors ON TOP of Windows Embedded Automotive. I know Kia, Fiat, and Nissan all built their in car experience on it as well.

I'm an engineer in the automotive industry and I can write software in half a dozen different languages. There is absolutely no excuse for the **** poor performance of the bluetooth system. Everything about it screams inefficient programming and/or insufficient hardware.

My niece at that age had no issues with her Nexus 7 2012. So yeah, anecdotal, good try though.

There is nothing special about iOS, it's a preference and both are equally capable devices.

Black Screens where nothing shows up but audio is playing Phone messages that won't go away unless pressed "connected to phone" "battery low" these messages should disappear after 10-15 seconds but they don't until you press close, yet all other messages disappear automatically. Don't get me wrong, Sync 3 is leaps and bounds above Sync 2 but there are still a lot of bugs that they need to work out. I also have been into my dealership many times for service trying to get these issues resolve but after resets, and re-install of software the only thing we can come up with is that its software based and just have to wait it out.
I have not experienced any of these issues.

This is just my two cents so take it as that. I had a 2012 F150 and the sync system in that was garbage and I didn't use it the 4 years I had the truck. Now in my 2016 I have Sync 3 and I like it. 1,000% better than my old one. I have had absolutely zero issues or malfunctions. As far as the apple android thing. I have had both and switched back and forth for a few years. I prefer Apple. I like my equipment to just work without a bunch of screwing with it. Now I am not a 100% Apple fanboy because there are things that I would like better. I have several Apple products in my house and I also have several Windows products. And I even have an android tablet floating around somewhere. Like everything else on here opinions are like a**holes everyone has one. There will never be anything that "EVERYONE " likes.

Sync is still crap though. Even if the iPad only worked during temps from 32-95 it would still be 100X better than Sync.
How is an iPad that would fry and overheat in 100+ degree weather be better than SYNC if it stops working? Lol

I just bought a 2016 Dodge Charger for work, and the touchscreen so far has been surprisingly better than any of the Ford screens I've used. The bluetooth hookup to my iPhone 6 is immediate, no disconnects, and the menu's seem much more intuitive. It feels about one generation beyond the Ford screens, and 2017 is a new generation for Dodge which will push them forward another step.

Let's be honest, Ford isn't a leader in their MFT usability and functionality. They've struggled with customer satisfaction, and honestly some of the flack is deserved.
