They should do something with the explorer. I don’t see the point of a truck bed there,, not like you’ll be sliding heavy tall pallets and hooking up a goose neck.
AWD HD Exploder stretched 6-12 inch with tough spray in bedliner in the cargo bay and actual tailgate with hatch that flips up high and is removable. 5000lb towing and 1500 payload. Would work for most everyone here.
Ok Ford, pay me.

so take a transit connect van (I almost bought one and still might in work package form) and blend some of the new Escape interior and front end with it - then smooth out the back cut the top off and have what a 4.5ft bed - maybe 5ft bed.
Use the right engine and trans - top the payload out to say 1000 lbs so as to not go crazy on the suspension - lightly tow capable (what's the transit connect 3500). and sell for less than the ranger while getting another 5-10 mpg with a hybrid option.
That last one will be nearly impossible.
anywho - I like the idea I'd even check one out. BUt it would eat sales away from the Ranger even fleet sales It would have to be a good bit cheaper or a good bit more fuel friendly for me to take one over the new ranger.

Those little transit vans are super handy. I may buy one for my office one day. I need to stay off the forums

I want Ford to be successful, and to be successful building cars in America. I was in the dealership the other day and it's just so boring. And the young people I work with seem to want either Hyundai SUVs or they want electric cars.
So the only things I can think of that people want that Ford doesn't make are:
1. a fun pure electric, like the Leaf (I rode in one the other day and it's kinda interesting)
2. a true off-road, like an FJ Cruiser or a Jeep Wrangler. They could call it a Bronco or something. That market has a following, but I fear the new Bronco is going to be an Edge. Which is not bad, but it's Mall Rated.
Oh, do I think there is a market for a Focus-based pickup? No idea, but I don't want one.
