Default Wheels

Just a quick question. Is there a big difference between the 20'' and 18'' wheels as in ride and towing?
Thanks in advance

I upgraded from factory 18s to factory 20s. I noticed no difference in ride quality. Not sure about towing as i dont tow much.

Wheel size has nothing to do with ride quality. Tire size, tire composition, air pressure and suspension will make a difference.

All other factors equal (overall tire diameter, width and load range) there are differences in ride and handling between an 18 x 8.5 wheel on a 34 inch tall tire and the same size & spec tire on a 20 x 8.5 wheel. Simply put, there is less sidewall between you and the road using a 20 inch wheel than an 18 on the same overall tire size. Should also point out that on F150's, factory wheels are 7.5 inch wide on 18's and 8.5 on 20's-good to know for those who want to upgrade to a larger tire using factory rims.

The only thing that could make this statement more wrong is if you said tires are square.

Care to elaborate or just make empty statements? Do enlighten us with your "expertise".

Again, it's not the wheel that makes the difference which is what the OP is asking. Yes, sidewall size does make a difference but that falls into "tire size" not wheel size.

A 34 inch tall tire is a 34 inch tall tire whether it is for an 18 or 20 inch wheel...(I used the 34 inch height as an example because it is generally the tallest that can fit stock rims on 2015+ F150's without much difficultly, using just a 1-2 inch leveling kit)

Not so much expertise as common sense. The other folks in the thread have made it clear why you are wrong.

Maybe a fun example to help explain.

Somebody is going to hit you with a package that measures 8"L X 4"W x 2"H

The package must be made of two things only. Foam Padding and brick.

Still don't think it matters how much brick?
