Default Wheel question

Okay, so I have a 2015 XLT SuperCab with the chrome package, FX4 package, and 20" wheels. I absolutely hate the wheels, I want to go with 18" wheels. The truck currently has 295/50/20 on it, and I believe those are a pretty much 33x12x20's. so if I went with 33x12x18, I would want to move the wheels out just about .5". They are really close to the upper control arms.Nott to mention, I would like to get wheels with a bitt of a lip on them. How would I figure out what size wheels to order? I do not know anything about offsets and things like that. Thanks in advance.

OEM 20" wheels have are 8.5" wide with a 44mm offset. So if you wanted 18's with the same width, but pushed out 1/2", you would subtract 12mm, meaning you'd be looking at 18x8.5" wheels with a 32mm offset. 9" wheels et30 wheels are popular, and will fit fine.

Thank you. So I could go 18x9 and a 33mm offset to get a 1/2 lip on the outside of the wheel and move it out half an inch as well?

Did I understand that right?

Okay, so I guess I would have to go with 33x12.5x18 as I am not sure I can find a 12" tire. That said, Would that tire still work based on what you said earlier?

Check out https://www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery Then look at what the owner purchased size wise and if they had to do anything to make it fit.

You can also play around with offset calculators like https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/

I would like to have a rim with a lip on it, but that still looks good. How close are the tires to the upper control arm?

What is a rim lip? Have a photo something that resembles what you are attempting to mimic.
I don't know what it is but I think your understanding of offset is incorrect. You're trying to move the whole wheel out further with the offset you mentioned, unless that is what a 'lip' is.

This site is one of many that compare wheels.
Enter your Ford wheel specs and the tires you have now.

As your comparison wheel, play with numbers like your first response suggested. the 8.5 +44 vs an 8.5 +32 should show how you have 12mm more poke than stock. Play with different wheel width to see what offset gives you similar. I'd still like to know what a lip is though.
