what's under the center console? 2016 Lariat

Sorry, but shooting sheet metal screws through a surface without knowledge of what's behind it is *dumb*.
There's also the restraint control module mounted to the floor, along with all of the fairly sensitive wiring that goes to the airbags, pretensioners, etc.
Pulling the console apart isn't hard. Verify what's down there. Then, while you have it apart, you can install your safe with machine screws, fender washers, and lock nuts... it will be much less prone to loosening up, and it will take more than just a screwdriver for a thief to remove the whole vault from the console.

I agree the best option is to remove the console, but with this community of knowledge, figured it was worth my posting and asking if anyone else can confirm there isn't any thing there.
Also, the screws are from inside the vault, so no access to the screws unless it's unlocked and opened.

STOP! i just installed my E&G gun safe this weekend. If you lookup their installation procedure video to see how to remove the rear cupholders and console, you can look underneath. I had two amplifier looking modules or heat sinks underneath. I was curious what they were because the next day my remote start wouldn't work. I thought maybe all that steel was blocking cell reception for fordpass but later that day remote start worked. I know I didn't drill into it. You don't need to remove the bolts on the side of the console that I broke. Mine is a 2019 but it would be safer to have a look first.
could you post a link to the install video you're referring to? I can't seem to find it.

If module faults are detected, remote start gets disabled for a few cycles. Ford doesn't want your vehicle sitting all alone if something decides to let out the magic smoke (or burn the vehicle to the ground).

Yeah i personally wouldnt screw thru the floor with anything either. Maybe take the console bracket loose and try to fab something up and use that as an anchor point. Some welding might be required.
