what's under the center console? 2016 Lariat
What's under the center console? I have a safe I would like to mount in the console, but wasn't sure if there's anything under there that I would ruin by using a few self taping screws? the screws are only 1/4-1/3 inch long.

I will post a couple photos of the safe below

Picture of my truck with everything out during the Lariat dash swap.
That black bracket in the middle is what the consiole bolts to. Just floor under it.

I'd honestly remove the console, and secure the safe to the console itself, rather than drilling the floor, but that's just me . I'm almost sure it's possible, since the console is not going to match the contour of the floor. Besides, if there's space between floor and console (most likely), you could break the console, if just bolting down the safe to the floor. Better to look at it first . Good luck.

STOP! i just installed my E&G gun safe this weekend. If you lookup their installation procedure video to see how to remove the rear cupholders and console, you can look underneath. I had two amplifier looking modules or heat sinks underneath. I was curious what they were because the next day my remote start wouldn't work. I thought maybe all that steel was blocking cell reception for fordpass but later that day remote start worked. I know I didn't drill into it. You don't need to remove the bolts on the side of the console that I broke. Mine is a 2019 but it would be safer to have a look first.
