What the Shift?!!
What's with shifting on my 2015 Lariat? Found it new with 80 miles on it and it now has 1700. This thing always want to lug like a MF! Is there a computer fix for this??
Un hook the battery for 10 minutes. The tranny will relearn the shift patterns according to the way you drive.
Give it some gas. Don't let it lug.
As mentioned, sport mode will help too.

Sport mode is cray aggressive for everyday around town driving. I have the 3.5 EB
I've used the + / - on the shifter to try and teach it where to shift but in auto it always wants to go to a taller gear way to early. To get it to down shift you gotta dam near put it to the floor.
Only thing I really dislike about this truck.
I'll try the disconnecting the battery trick and drive it like I stole it for a couple weeks and see what happens!

Look up the throttle reset procedure listed on this forum. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete and fixed that shifting way too early crap on mine. Mine is also a 15 3.5 TT. I just did this procedure a couple weeks ago and it made a HUGE difference in how the truck drives! I believe this is the procedure: turn the ignition to accessory mode (turn key forward but don't actually start truck) (if it's a push button ignition press the start button without pressing the brake peddle to get to accessory mode). Wait for the door chimes to stop. Slowly press the gas pedal down all the way to the floor going really slow the whole way. Once it's to the floor all the way let off of it fast. Do this entire procedure (from ignition on to letting pedal up) 3 times in a row. That's all there is to it. Made a huge difference in how my truck drives/shifts!
The transmission control attempts to always put the engine at its most efficient speed and load. It just so happens thatengines are more efficient at low rpm, so it seems like it's always lugging. You'll either get used to it or buy a tuner.
I drive mine in M most of the time now.
S mode never seems to use 6th and the downshifting is just WRONG, like there's definitely something wrong with it. You go into a corner, brake a bit, it downshifts. Upon exiting the corner, it gets stuck and won't upshift ... the motor is SCREAMING!
RE:efficiency: I always thought motors were most efficient at almost wide open throttle.

I THINK Ford is doing this for the same reason them and all the rest of the car manufacturers are SCREWING UP cars; EPA *****
It's all about "the fleet" and "using less":
Oil changes>less frequent
Oil volumes>trending lower
Smaller motors
More gears in tranny
lighter cars
Shift points>unreasonable for average driving. Good for church maybe, certainly NOT rush hour.
Do you think Chuck Schumer's Escalade is a V6?

This is my first automatic trans vehicle and I still miss my 5spd manual every single day. I do run the tranny in Manual a lot, but even still it limits shifts on occasion and I can't get it to skip shifts when accelerating hard. I also don't like the automatic rpm-match that it does, though I completely understand why it's there. I just miss my clutch and stick.
I have reset my shift points a couple times and did the throttle relearn, but it still feels like it lugs the engine at low speed or slow accelerating. I will sometimes drop from 6th to 5th manually to go from 55-60mph.
My Sport mode likes to hang on to 2nd too long. When I want to accelerate hard from a stop to 45 or 50, like when pulling out into busy city traffic. I can use sport mode to get to 45mph real quick, but once I let off the gas or back off to maintain 45 it will just sit there at something like 5k rpm I manually turn off Sport mode and it shifts to 5th or 6th.

Agree with the points being made here. As much of a believer as I am in keeping most everything stock, I'm going to get a moderate tune (ie. 87 performance/tow) to get better tranny shift points and improved throttle response. Given what these trucks cost, another $450 is well worth it to make it enjoyable to drive around town...
