Default What’s this for?

So I was looking under the driver side dash and came across this small switch. It’s sitting right next to the OBDII port. It’s plugged into a 3 wire harness wrapped in factory wrapping. Any ideas on this? My truck is a 2016 XLT.

Did you buy the truck new? That doesn’t look like a factory installed kinda thing.

Flip the switch, what’s the worst that can happen?

Just got it 2 months ago. Really don't want to flip the switch until I have some sort of idea what it can be.

I'm going with a kill switch. Switch that thing and see what happens.

I did find the other plug that it's disconnected from. It is a 3 wire plug with a RED, WHITE and YELLOW wire.

That definitely doesnt look factory. You can buy that wrap tape at any auto parts store. Might be for an old accessory the previous owner had installed or maybe some kind of anti theft device.

That switch is to help keep that torque monster under control during braking. It activates your parachute that is located between the tailgate and rear bumper.

My vote goes to aux lighting. Check around front rear bumpers for other end of that wiring. Maybe reverse lights, or front bar of some sort.
